Enduring
Mental Illness
Eastbourne
Clinic has been open since 1994 primarily as a private provider
of acute nursing care.
Since
it's conception it has become apparent that there is a deficit
in the provision of care for individuals who no longer strictly
meet the criteria for an acute admission bed, neither are
they able to fulfil the sometimes rigid requirements of
a specialist facility e.g. therapeutic community. These
individuals, who fall under the generic term of having enduring
mental health problems, can at times be supported in community
care schemes, however, others can not. This may be due,
to a myriad of factors including mal-adaptive coping mechanisms,
such as self harming behaviours.
At the
clinic we are able to provide an 8 bedded unit with a specialist
multi-disciplinary clinical team, where a modified therapeutic
community programme can be offered to individuals who fall
into this category.
We envisage
this programme being suitable for individuals with such
diagnoses as:-
- Borderline
Personality Disorders
- PTSD
-
Stress/Anxiety reactions
-
Eating Disorders
- Dual
Diagnosis
- Individuals
who do not meet DSM criteria of diagnosis.
